New Zealand Cricket Team Arrives At Hyderabad Ahead Of ICC World Cup 2023
The New Zealand Cricket team arrives at Hyderabad for their ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign. The Blackcaps were the runners-up in their previous two World Cup campaigns in 2015 and 2019 respectively missing out on the trophy by a narrow margin.
This time New Zealand looks in good shape and they are one of the favourites to lift the World Cup this year. New Zealand will face England in the opening match of the World Cup on 5th October and they will seek their revenge for the defeat they faced in the 2019 World Cup Finals against England.
Before the start of the World Cup, New Zealand will play two practice games against Pakistan and South Africa respectively. They will face Pakistan on 29th September for the first warm-up game and South Africa on 2nd October for the second warm-up game. After these warm-up matches, New Zealand will kick off their World Cup campaign against England in Ahmedabad on 5th October.
A total of 10 teams will battle each other in the round-robin league format for the coveted World Cup trophy. India was already qualified by being hosts while New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Australia, England, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan progressed from the Super League and then Sri Lanka and Netherlands made their way through the Qualifiers.
New Zealand Is One Of The Favourites For Winning The World Cup
New Zealand have always been a strong side, especially in ICC events where they have been performing consistently but somehow they fail to get their hands on the trophy. New Zealand has reached the finals of an ICC event four times since 2015 and has managed to win only one of them. They played the finals of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, ICC World Test Championship 2021, and ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
The Blackcaps also reached the semi-finals of the T20 World Cups in 2016 and 2022. This time they get another opportunity to get their hands on the World Cup and with the squad they have, it is a possibility that they can win given that the likes of Kane Williamson and Trent Boult are back in the Squad.
New Zealand Squad For ICC World Cup 2023: Kane Williamson (C), Trent Boult, Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Will Young.
