With the ICC World Cup 2023 just a couple of days away, England captain Jos Buttler has named his dream five ODI playing eleven players. Few days after Australia’s stars picked their World ODI XI, Jos Buttler has picked up five active players in his dream team.

The wicketkeeper-batsman’s team has one player from England, India, and Australia each and two from South Africa. He began by picking his teammate Adil Rashid in his dream five team. The leg-spinner has been leading England’s spin department for almost a decade now and his team’s fate in the upcoming ODI World Cup will definitely depend a lot on how he performs.

Rashid has picked up 184 wickets in the 50-over format so far. He was one of England’s main players when they won the ODI World Cup at home four years ago. The spinner has picked up 11 wickets while maintaining an economy rate of less than 6.

Jos Buttler’s first five of dream ODI team:

After selecting Rashid, Jos Buttler named South Africa star Quinton de Kock in his dream ODI team. The wicketkeeper-batsman has been one of the best openers in limited-overs cricket for quite some time now. In ODIs so far, he has scored 6178 runs.

De Kock has already announced that he will retire after the ODI World Cup and will be keen to make the tournament a special one for himself as well as South Africa who are eyeing their maiden title. Jos Buttler then named India captain Rohit Sharma in his dream team.

Rohit Sharma is one of the most decorated ODI openers of all time. He has scored 10,031 runs in ODI so far with the help of 30 centuries including a record three double centuries. He also holds the record for the highest individual score in the 50-over format. Rohit Sharma’s record in the ODI World Cup is equally impressive.

In the last edition of the tournament, he had scored 648 runs with the help of a record five centuries and one fifty. After Rohit, Jos Buttler named Australia’s Glenn Maxwell in his team. Maxwell is widely regarded as one of the best match-winners in the world. He has the ability to change the course of a game with both bat and ball.

He was part of the Australian team that won the ODI World Cup in 2015 and will be looking to fire his team to glory once again this year. Jos Buttler’s final pick was South Africa pacer Anrich Norjte. Known for his pace, Norjte was named in the South Africa squad for the World Cup but an unfortunate injury has ruled him out.
