Aakash Chopra has picked a South African keeper-batter as a player to watch out for in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. According to Aakash Chopra, Heinrich Klassen is one of the top overseas players who can play attacking cricket.

South Africa will start their hunt for a maiden ICC World Cup title, and Heinrich Klassen will be a key asset for the Proteas in their journey, and with his current form, he can take on any bowler on his day.

South Africa are currently the 4th ranked team in the ICC ODI Rankings and have five batters in the top 15 of the ICC ODI Batting Rankings. Heinrich Klassen is currently ranked 8th on the list of ODI batters, and he has shown the world what he can do in the recently concluded SA vs AUS ODI series.

Klassen scored 243 runs in the five-match series with an average of 48.60. In the fourth ODI of the series, Klassen played an astonishing knock of 174 runs off just 83 deliveries hitting 13 fours and 13 sixes in the process.

Heinrich Klassen is a nightmare, especially for spinners, and Indian conditions will suit his style of play. In the 2023 edition of the IPL, Klassen scored 448 runs in just 11 innings with an average of 49.78. He even scored a century against Royal Challengers Bangalore. “Heinrich Klaasen is not a top-order batter. But, among overseas batters, no one plays attacking cricket better than him. The speciality of this batter is that he picks length very quickly and looks to attack the ball. He uses the depth of the crease really well to get power into his big hits,” Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

“Whoever bats in the middle overs, there will be five fielders in the circle at that point. One gap will always be there. Heinrich Klaasen is slightly underrated, I don’t know why. I rated him very highly. For South Africa to do well, Klaasen will have to do well because lower middle-order batters can make game-changing contributions. I have lot of hopes from him as he is a very effective cricketer.”

South Africa will start their World Cup campaign against Sri Lanka on 7th October in Delhi.
