Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has informed the International Cricket Council (ICC) about the delay in their visa to India for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 as per the reports in the New Indian Express. Due to the visa issue, the plans of the Babar Azam-led side have been disrupted.
Pakistan Cricket Team were slated to travel to Dubai next week for a short stay. After that, they had planned to move to India for the ICC World Cup 2023. The PCB submitted the passports of the entire contingent to the Indian embassy after they returned from Colombo at the end of the Asia Cup.
But despite sending the documents early, PCB is yet to receive visas for all the players. On the other hand rest of the teams that will be traveling to India have received their visas. This has sparked a bit of controversy as to why the Pakistan team haven’t received their visas.
Disappointed with the development, a PCB official revealed that they have informed to ICC about the issue. He added that because of not receiving the documents, they had to change their plans. Speaking to the New Indian Express, the official explained:
“The passports were submitted as soon as the team returned home from the Asia Cup held in Sri Lanka. We have yet not received the visas. The ICC has been apprised of the issue as this has made the PCB to change its plan of having a two-day team bonding camp in Dubai.”
The visa delay for the Pakistan Cricket Team is speculated to be due to the political tensions between the two countries. It will be for the first time since the 2016 T20 World Cup that Men in Green will travel to India.
