Laxman Sivaramakrishnan lashed out at the organizers over the absence of genuine spin bowlers in the commentary panel for the ICC World Cup 2023. Laxman Sivaramakrishnan emphasized that the tournament will be played in spin-friendly Indian conditions.

The official broadcaster of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, Star Sports, recently unveiled a star-studded panel of commentators for the upcoming marquee tournament. The ???Starcast??? for ???Mission World Cup??? includes former World Cup winners from various countries.

Laxman Sivaramakrishnan took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express his disappointment over the commentary panel. He emphasized the importance of having diverse perspectives and expertise in cricket commentary.

???Not one genuine spinner in the commentary panel that is being played in India. How will people get educated on spin bowling. Does it mean only batsmen and some colour commentators know the game. Pathetic mix,??? wrote the caption.

Right-arm leg spin bowler Samuel Badree and former left-arm spinner Ravi Shastri have been named in the commentary panel. Shastri picked up 280 international wickets, while Badree grabbed 56 wickets for the West Indies in the short period of the game.

World Cup 2023 To Kick Off On October 5

The World Cup 2023 will kick off on Thursday, October 5, with the match between the 2019 finalists England and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The upcoming tournament will be played across 10 venues in India over 46 days.

Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Pune will host the group-stage matches of the 10-team tournament. Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram have been selected as venues for the warm-up matches.
