PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf Wants To Add Two More Players To The Central Contracts List- Report

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) successfully negotiated a three-year central contract deal with as many as 25 senior players who will be bonded in the contract from 1st July 2023 to 30th June 2026. All of these 25 cricketers will get a momentous deal that will include a portion of the ICC revenue. However, issues were raised after test spinners Nauman Ali and Abrar Ahmed could not find their names in the list.
Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, who led the side to victory in the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017, found himself landing in the D category of the contract. PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf reassured that he will look into the matter and will make sure that the deserving players will be duly recognized and placed in the central contract.
“I came to know that few players are not there (in central contracts) and they complained about that, If there is any injustice done with Sarfaraz or any other player, it will be rectified,” said Zaka Ashraf. He further clarified that the team management and the selection committee determined the lists of players who were included in the central contracts.
PCB Central Contract Has Four Categories
The Players included in the PCB Central Contracts list are divided into four categories and this time there has been a significant hike in monthly remuneration. As per the category, the hike percentage is as follows:
Category A- 202%, Category B- 144%, Category C- 135% and Category D- 127%.
The list of players included according to the given categories are:
Category A: Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi
Category B: Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Nawaz, Naseem Shah and Shadab Khan
Category C: Imad Wasim and Abdullah Shafique
Category D: Fahim Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Ihsanullah, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Wasim Jr., Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, Sarfaraz Ahmad, Saud Shakeel, Shahnawaz Dahani, Shan Masood, Usama Mir and Zaman Khan.
The Players will also receive a subsequent hike in their match fees i.e. 50% for test matches, 25% for ODIs, and 12.5% for T20Is. The previous contract expired on 30th June 2023 and the new one will be deemed effective from 1st July 2023. Hopefully, the mistakes will be rectified and the deserving players will get their names added to the central contract lists.
