Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen agreed with Indian skipper Rohit Sharma’s suggestion to add a rule to make cricket more interesting. Kevin Pietersen recalled that he had previously suggested awarding more than six runs for longer sixes.
Cricket boasts numerous legendary power-hitting batters, including Chris Gayle, Brendon McCullum, and India’s current captain, Rohit Sharma. These hard-hitting batters possess the remarkable skill of hitting sixes that often exceed more than 100 meters.
If It’s A 100M Six, It Should Be 10 Runs – Rohit Sharma
In an interview with sports journalist Vimal Kumar, Rohit Sharma proposed awarding more runs for longer-distance sixes to make cricket more interesting. Rohit stated that it’s a bit unfair that big hitters like Chris Gayle receive only six runs for massive sixes.
“If the batter hits a 90M six, it should be 8 runs. If it’s a 100M six, it should be 10 runs. People like Chris Gayle smashed 100M sixes for fun and got only 6, bit unfair,” Rohit told Vimal Kumar.
Thanks, Rohit Sharma -Kevin Pietersen
Kevin Pietersen took to his social media platform, X (formerly known as Twitter), to express agreement with Rohit Sharma’s proposed rule to make cricket more exciting by awarding more runs for big hits.
“What did I say a few years ago?!?!?!?! Thanks, @ImRo45,” Kevin wrote.

In 2021, Kevin Pietersen suggested a rule change in T20 cricket, or the Hundred, proposing that if a batsman hits the ball over 100 meters for a six, they should be awarded 12 runs.
“I want an addition to the rules in T20 cricket! Or, @englandcricket can do it in the 100. If a player hits a 6 that goes over 100m, I want a 12 awarded! @ICC,” he tweeted.
“The pluses for a 12, for a shot that travels over 100m: 1. No game is really over till it’s over. 2. It adds real excitement. 3. Broadcasters have new equations around the possibilities of 12s being hit. 4. New revenue stream as they can be sponsored. Watch this space…!,” he wrote.
Chris Gayle holds the record for smashing the most sixes across three formats in international cricket with 553. In second place is Rohit Sharma with 551 sixes to his name. Rohit has a chance to surpass Gayle’s record during the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup.
