Former England captain Michael Vaughan has revealed his picks for semi-finalists of the ICC World Cup 2023. With the World Cup inching closer with each passing day, fans and experts have been busy making predictions about the competition.
The highly-anticipated ODI World Cup is scheduled to be played from October 5 to November 19. A total of ten teams will be participating in the competition ??? India, Australia, England, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Netherlands and Bangladesh. The tournament will be played across ten venues as India gear up to host the competition alone for the first time.
Many believe that this year???s ODI World Cup could be the most competitive one in the history of the game. There are no clear-cut favourites for the title as a number of teams are strong contenders to win the tournament. England are the reigning champions while the likes of India, New Zealand, Australia, and Pakistan are also contenders. Not many would also bet against the likes of South Africa, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
Michael Vaughan???s semi-finalists:
A couple of days before the ODI World Cup 2023 gets underway, Michael Vaughan has predicted the semifinalists for the competition. The top four teams after the league stage will make it to the semi-finals. Each team will play against the other nine teams exactly once in the league stage.
And while only time will tell who make it to the top four, Michael Vaughan believes England, India, South Africa, and Pakistan are likely to progress to the semifinals.
???Can???t wait for the World Cup to start this week .. My 4 semi finalists will be ??? England, South Africa, India, Pakistan.. #CWC2023,??? he wrote.
Michael Vaughan???s prediction, however, did not go down well with former Australia batter Mark Waugh. With the England great not picking Australia as a semi-finalist, Waugh did not hesitate in questioning his sanity as he wrote: ???You???ve lost your marbles.???
You???ve lost your marbles.
Meanwhile, England and New Zealand will lock horns against each other in the first game of the ICC World Cup 2023. The match is scheduled to take place on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
