Temba Bavuma Aims To End South Africa's ICC Trophy Drought With New Aggressive Approach In ICC World Cup 2023

South Africa captain Temba Bavuma expressed his determination to perform well in the ICC World Cup 2023, which is set to be played in India. Temba Bavuma emphasized that he used the past letdowns as motivation to forge a new path in his cricketing career.
Temba Bavuma had to return home due to family reasons, leading to his absence from the warm-up matches of the upcoming tournament. Cricket South Africa (CSA) has confirmed that the right-arm batter will be available for selection for the tournament opener.
There’s No Negative Emotions Or Trauma – Temba Bavuma
Temba Bavuma emphasized that he does not harbor any negative emotions or trauma as he prepares for the marquee tournament in India.
“The emotion that was attached to that day and everything that happened around it, I think that’s subsided from my side. I used that emotion as motivation, and really tried to forge a new way for myself within my cricketing career,” Bavuma said.
“If I look back now, since that day things have been going well for myself but also for the team. I was laughing about it. There’s no negative emotions or trauma coming back here,” he added.
Bavuma has displayed remarkable form in the 50-over format this year. The opening batter scored 637 runs in 10 matches at an impressive average of 79.62 and a strike rate of 104.08. He has notched up three centuries and two fifties this year.
We Spoke A Lot About Being Bold – Temba Bavuma
The 33-year-old emphasized that the South African team boasts a well-balanced squad, underscoring their recent shift towards a bold and fearless approach.
“The way we’ve been going about our business this year, it has been in contrast to what people have known us as a team. We spoke a lot about being bold, being fearless, being positive and always looking for moments to move the game in our favor,” Bavuma further added.
South Africa will play warm-up matches against Afghanistan on September 29 and New Zealand on October 2 in Thiruvananthapuram. They will commence their World Cup campaign with a game against Sri Lanka at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on October 7.
