Pakistan captain Babar Azam will be desperate to enter the history books by leading his team to glory in the ICC World Cup 2023. No Pakistan captain has managed to win the World Cup since the legendary Imran Khan led the Men in Green to their maiden title way back in 1992.
The closest Pakistan came to winning the tournament was in 1999 when they made it to the final before suffering a heavy defeat against Australia. Many believe that the current Pakistan side has got what it takes to be the world champions. The Babar Azam-led side was recently the top-ranked ODI side in the world and does have the ability to go all the way.
Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Shadab Khan, Fakhar Zaman, and a few others, have got a number of match-winners in their ranks. Pakistan are considered by many as one of the strong contenders for the World Cup.

Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi will be seen in action on Tuesday (October 3) when Pakistan take on Australia in their second warm-up game. Pakistan will be looking to bounce back against Australia and enter the World Cup with a win after suffering a big defeat against New Zealand in their first warm-up game last week.
A century from Mohammad Rizwan and fifties from Babar Azam and Saud Shakeel propelled Pakistan to a huge total of 345 runs but New Zealand chased it down inside 44 overs. The Men in Green will open their World Cup campaign against the Netherlands on October 6 before taking on Sri Lanka on October 10.
