'We Were Sleeping In The Kitchen...': Haris Rauf's Sensational Revelation Ahead Of ICC World Cup 2023
Pakistan Cricket Team’s star pacer, Haris Rauf, is all set to play in his maiden ICC Cricket World Cup. He is familiar with the big stage, having played two editions of the T20 World Cup.
He has an impressive record in ODIs, having picked 53 wickets in 28 ODIs so far. Haris Rauf rose to fame as a tape-ball cricketer in Pakistan, and from there, he got picked up for the national side.
Recently in an interview, Haris Rauf talked about his struggle to make ends meet. Rauf talked about other means of earning before he started playing tape-ball cricket.
Haris Rauf said that he had to sell snacks in order to be able to pay his education fees, and it was a really tough time in his life as his father was not earning enough to pay for his education. The Pakistani speedster talked about how his family had to sleep in the kitchen during these troubled times.
Haris Rauf’s life made a quick turn after he started playing tape-ball cricket. He revealed that the guys who used to play tape-ball cricket professionally in Pakistan could manage to earn around 2 to 2.5 lacs.
Tape Ball cricket prepared the Pakistani bowler for bigger challenges and now he is set to play for his country in his first-ever World Cup campaign.
Haris Rauf: Tape Ball Cricket Helped Me Overcome Financial Struggles
“The boys, who play tape-ball professionally in Pakistan, easily make around 2-2.5 lakh per month. I used to earn that and would give it to my mother but I never told my father about earning this much. My father has three brothers and all lived together. My father had one big room and when my uncles got married, my father gave his room to his brothers. Eventually, we reached the point where we were sleeping in the kitchen,” said Haris Rauf.
Haris Rauf is all set to play for Pakistan in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and is one of the pacers to watch out for. He has troubled a lot of batsmen and has taken four four-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul in his short ODI career of 28 matches.
Hopefully, he will add to this tally in the World Cup and will contribute towards his team’s success. Pakistan will play the Netherlands in their first match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on 6th October in Hyderabad.
