England are coming in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 as the defending champions. They won the 2019 edition of the ICC World Cup under Eoin Morgan’s captaincy but this team it is Jos Buttler who will lead the England side in the World Cup. Jos Buttler inherited the captaincy from Eoin Morgan a year ago and made an immediate impact by leading the team to victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.

Jos Buttler now wants to inspire his team to triumph in the ODI World Cup and defend the prestigious title that they won on home soil in 2019. England is among the favourites to win the World Cup again this time but one of the concerns that is bugging the England side is that it is unclear how much longer this group of superstars can stick together in the team. Jos Buttler turned 33 this September and ten other players are playing in their thirties including test captain Ben Stokes and Joe Root.

However, Eoin Morgan doesn’t see Jos Buttler retiring anytime soon, he will continue to lead the side according to Morgan. Even at the age of 33, Jos Buttler is at his destructive best and he is one of the batters to look out for in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

“Jos Buttler Is The Man To Lead,” Eoin Morgan On Jos Buttler

Without a doubt, Jos is the man to lead for as long as he wants, He’s one of the best players in the world, he’s unbelievably well respected in the England changing room and around the world, and has proven that he’s an excellent captain tactically and is an excellent leader. I think that’s just a given, for me.”

“You might see some players retiring, but even then you’ll see the same group of players trying to win World Cups. Even though players are in their 30s, they’re fitter, healthier and better medically treated than ever. You would say people should be able to play for longer,” said Morgan.

England will start their World Cup campaign by playing the opening match of the tournament on 5th October against the 2019 World Cup Finalists New Zealand. It will be a roller-coaster of emotions as they will face the team they beat to become champions in 2019 and New Zealand is a strong side that will put up a different set of challenges this time and will look forward to dominating England.
