India’s World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev heaped praise over opener KL Rahul and said that he enjoys watching him bat.

KL Rahul blazed 51 runs against England in the first warm-up match as he hammered six fours and three sixes to reach his half-century in 23 balls.

Rahul scored 626 runs from 13 innings in IPL 2021 while opening the batting for Punjab Kings and his last innings against Chennai Super Kings was a breathtaking one.

The Punjab skipper smashed an unbeaten 98 off 42 balls with seven fours and eight sixes that took his overall strike rate to 138.30 at the end of the tournament.

Kapil Dev said that Rahul could be a huge asset for the Indian team in the T20 World Cup in UAE and also has faith in the Karnataka player to do great things for Indian cricket.

“KL Rahul. I just love to watch him bat. He has so much confidence in the shots he plays and now with all the experience Rahul can be a huge asset for India in this T20 World Cup. I have always enjoyed seeing him play and I feel he will do a lot of good things for Indian cricket going forward,” said the legend,” Kapil Dev was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda.

India definitely has the team to make the top 4: Kapil Dev

Many pundits have dubbed India to be the favourites of winning their second T20 World Cup title since 2007.

When the greatest Indian all-rounder was asked about India’s chances of lifting the title, he said that India has the team that can qualify to the semi-finals and from there on a different tournament starts.

“I don’t answer that question you know. Rather, I will say they need to make the top 4. That’s what the aim should be, for then an entirely new tournament starts thereafter. And yes India definitely has the team to make the top 4!”, Kapil Dev mentioned.

India will play against Pakistan in their opening game of the Super 12 stage on October 24 in Dubai.
