Team India is scheduled to play against New Zealand on Sunday (Oct 31) in their second match of the T20 World Cup after both teams suffered a loss to Pakistan in their respective opening matches.

On Tuesday, New Zealand went down to Pakistan after a five-wicket loss, even after holding them in the chase for a while.

Kane Williamson and his men posted a lower par score of 134/8 after Pakistan bowlers hit every area right.

With figures of 4/22, Haris Rauf was the best pick from the Pakistan bowling attack, and it was also the 27-year-old’s career-best performance with the ball.

However, Pakistan seemed to struggle in their chase at one stage, but some late striking by Asif Ali and veteran player Shoaib Malik ensured they finished the game with eight balls and five wickets to spare.

One thing is sure is that New Zealand wants to win every match and have great enthusiasm. Yes, the Pakistan result didn’t go their way, but the fight that they showed was brilliant. They didn’t score many runs in the first innings, but the effort that they put in the bowling and fielding, states that they never ever lose their hope. And India should be wary about it,” Zaheer told Cricbuzz.

India should make sure it isn’t too late: Zaheer Khan

For the very first time in the history of the T20 World Cup, Pakistan defeated India and that also with a heavy margin of 10 wickets.

Zaheer feels that if India wants to secure their berth in the semi-finals, then they need to win against the Black Caps.

We all know that if India plays to their potential, no team will find it easy to stand against. It is always important for a side to catch up with the winning momentum at the earliest, especially in the World Cup. This time India have lost their first match and should make sure it isn’t too late. The next game against New Zealand is a do or die one,” Zaheer mentioned.

India will take on New Zealand on October 31 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
