OMN vs BAN Head to Head Records: Oman (OMN) H2H Record Against Bangladesh (BAN)- ICC T20 World Cup 2021. The sixth match of ICC T20 World Cup 2021 sees Bangladesh take on Oman at Al Amerat Cricket Ground on Tuesday.

The two teams have played one match each thus far in group B. Oman currently tops the Group B table, having registered a clinical 10-wicket win over Papua New Guinea in the tournament opener on Sunday.

The bowlers bowled disciplined lines and lengths to restrict the opposition to just 129 runs in the first innings. Bilal Khan and Kaleemullah reduced both the openers on nought to give their team an ideal start. They couldn’t pick a single wicket for the next 10 overs as Assad Vala and Charles Amini rebuilt the innings.

Much to their respite, the latter got run-out in the eleventh over and Assad Vala followed him back to the dugout two overs later. At 102 for 4 after 14.1 overs, the match was evenly poised. However, what followed was a collapse. Oman’s skipper, Zeeshan ran through Papua New Guinea’s middle-order as he took 4 wickets for just 20 runs in his 4 overs.

His spell helped the side restrict Papua New Guinea to just 129 runs in 20 overs. Bilal Khan and Kaleemullah picked 2 wickets each. Oman chased down the score in just 13.4 overs without losing a single wicket. Both the openers, Aqib Ilyas and Jatinder Singh remained unbeaten at 50 and 73 respectively.

Facing them are Bangladesh, who are coming into this game on the back of a shocking 6-run defeat in their first game against Scotland. Prior to the start of the qualifying round, Bangladesh were termed as favourites to top Group B. However, after losing their last game, things might get tougher to even qualify.

Bangladesh started the game brilliantly after reducing Scotland to 53 for 6 inside 12 overs. However, a brilliant partnership between Chris Greeves and Mark Watt turned the game upside down. Greeves’s 45 and Watt’s 22 helped them finish on 140 runs in the first innings. Mahedi Hasan (3 for 19) and Shakib Al Hasan (2 for 17) were brilliant with the ball, but pacers bowled quite a few loose deliveries.

In pursuit of the total, Bangladesh lost both their openers inside the first four overs. In the first six overs, all they managed was 25 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim made some recovery but couldn’t score at an ideal scoring rate. The former’s wicket in the 12th over saw the game slipping out of the hands of Bangladesh.

The pressure of maintaining the required run-rate led to wickets falling at regular intervals. The experienced campaigners in Mushfiqur Rahim (38 off 36), Mahmudullah (23 off 22) and Shakib Al Hasan (20 off 28) all got out at crucial stages in the game and failed to guide the team home. In the end, they fell 6 runs short of the target.

Despite losing the game, Bangladesh will still go into the contest as favourites. Oman are coming into this game on the back of a win but will have to play really well to beat Bangladesh on Tuesday.
