Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami has recently faced online abuse on Twitter and Instagram, and Pakistan batter Umar Akmal has shown his support for the pacer. Recently, Dan Christian had gone through the same online abuse after a poor performance for the RCB side in the eliminator, and a lot of cricketers had stood with him as support.
Shami has been facing the same online abuse after his performance against Pakistan in the opening encounter of India’s campaign in the T20 World Cup 2021. This was also the first time India had lost to Pakistan in a World cup fixture, and hence, the emotions behind the game were at the peak of their hours. Shami returned with figures of none for 43 in 3.5 overs which was one of the reasons behind the abuse.
“No Sportsman Deserves To Be Disrespected” – Umar Akmal
Umar Akmal felt that Mohammed Shami is one of the star players on the Indian side, and he showed his support for the pacer by tweeting about the sportsman’s sacrifices. He added that sportsmen should be given a lot more respect for the way they have been performing for the country. Umar Akmal’s tweet is definitely going to help the wounds heal for Shami.
“I stand with @MdShami11. he is a star player and has always performed for his country. No sportsman deserves to be disrespected. @BCCI.” Umar Akmal tweeted on Twitter

Pakistan Makes It Two In A Row
Pakistan managed to stage two victories in a row against two of the toughest opponents in the group, India and New Zealand. It has certainly opened up possibilities of the men in green being the first side to qualify for the semi-finals from group 2 as their remaining fixtures have been less competitive against Afghanistan, Namibia, and Scotland.
