Former Pakistan World Cup-winning captain Younis Khan feels that Indian opener Rohit Sharma and Pakistan opener Mohammad Rizwan can deliver exceptional performance in the battle of arch-rivals in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021.

India and Pakistan are clubbed in the Group 2 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, along with New Zealand, Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia. The highly anticipated battle between arch-rivals India & Pakistan is all set to commence on 24 October at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Virat Kohli-led side has won both of their warm-up games in the T20 World Cup 2021. On the other hand, Babar Azam-led side has won one and lost one warm-up game ahead of the high-voltage clash against India.

Also, this will be the first time Captain Virat Kohli and Captain Babar Azam will go head-to-head. Notably, Pakistan has never defeated India in the World Cup encounters, whether it is a T20 World Cup or a 50-over World Cup. India has a 12-0 lead against arch-rivals Pakistan in the World Cups.

Speaking on the YouTube channel ‘Uncut’, Younis Khan said that skippers Virat & Babar are two bankable batters. The spotlight will largely be on the captains who will lead to Rohit and Rizwan having a lot less pressure, and they can deliver match-winning performance.

Virat Kohli and Babar Azam are two very bankable batsmen for both India and Pakistan respectively, but I feel that Rohit Sharma and Mohammad Rizwan can also turn up the heat. The spotlight will largely be on the two captains, so Rohit and Rizwan will be eased off pressure and can produce match-winning performances for their sides,” Younis Khan said.

The 43-year-old feels that both the teams have good pace attacks.

Pakistan’s fast bowlers have been in good shape. For India, their pace attack has improved significantly in the recent past as well. Bumrah, in particular, has been brilliant in the last few months,” Younis Khan asserted.
