Australia National Cricket Team captain Aaron Finch has admitted that he has struggled against the New Zealand National Cricket Team left-arm pacer Trent Boult in international cricket.
Finch will once again go up against Boult when the trans-Tasman rivals face off in ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 Super 12 stage opener. The high-profile battle between defending champions Australia and last year’s runners-up New Zealand will take place at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday, October 22.

Speaking ahead of the clash, Australian skipper Finch talked about his struggles against left-arm pacers.
“I think at times I’ve been a bit more negative to left-arm bowlers. You’re almost batting trying not to get out as opposed to trying to be proactive,” Finch said.
While talking about Boult, Aaron Finch said that the “unbelievable bowler” has undoubtedly had his number in international cricket.
“Trent is an unbelievable bowler, he has been for 10 or 12 years now. He (Boult) had my number no doubt (in international cricket). I still feel as though I’ve got a really solid game plan. There’s some technical things I can do to a left-armer that can help,” Finch said.
“If there is rain around and the game is shortened, that can dictate what you do with your team. But we’re really confident that all the stuff we’ve done in the lead-up to this, that there’s enough bases we can cover with our squad,” he further said while speaking of Australia XI.
The premier Kiwi seamer has cleaned up Finch 6 times in international cricket. However, in T20Is, the Aussie opener has got out only once against Boult and has scored 46 runs off 34 deliveries.
Aaron Finch is absolutely one of the match-winners, and so is Trent Boult – Kane Williamson
Ahead of the Super 12 stage clash between the trans-Tasman rivals, the New Zealand captain Kane Williamson confirmed that Trent Boult will be handed over the new ball in the match against Australia and he will square off against Finch. He added that both Finch and Boult are absolute match-winners.
“He’ll be bowling with the new ball, Trent, and I suppose Finchy will be opening. So I guess there’s a likelihood that they’ll come across each other.
“But, yeah, same thing for us. We’re looking to do our homework as best we can, but ultimately just commit to our plans that we want to do as a team and go out and play with that freedom with which you come to these sorts of events. There are match-winners throughout, and Finchy is absolutely one of those, and so is Trent.
“There will be a number of great contests throughout this tournament. Anybody can beat anybody. It certainly makes way for a pretty exciting event,” Kane Williamson said as quoted by ICC.
Ahead of the Australia clash, New Zealand brought in former Australian player Steve O’Keefe to consult with the bowling corps. While talking about this development, Williamson said:
“We have a number of spinners in our group that were keen to have a bit of a chat, and he knows these conditions as well as anybody. It was a nice opportunity for them to have a few conversations with a very experienced spinner in this format.”
