"Dinesh Karthik Hasn't Been Picked But..."- Chetan Sharma Explains Why Wicket-Keeper Is Missing From India Squad For New Zealand T20Is

BCCI has announced the squads for New Zealand and Bangladesh Tours. Dinesh Karthik, the 37-year-old wicket-keeper hasn’t been named in any of the tours which are quite astonishing. The right-handed batter has made a name for himself as a finisher as making a comeback after 3 years is never easy.
It looks like BCCI has decided to part ways with Dinesh Karthik as the next T20 World Cup is in 2024 in USA and West Indies. It would be interesting to see whether the right-handed batter plays a match-winning cameo in the ongoing T20 World Cup as so far he has been seen struggling.
Chetan Sharma on Dinesh Karthik
BCCI Chief Selector Chetan Sharma was seen attending the media after announcing the squad and was asked about Dinesh Karthik. “We’re focusing on workload management. Dinesh Karthik hasn’t been picked but he’s available for selection. We want to try a different setup after T20 World Cup. The doors are open for him.” said Chetan Sharma.
Dinesh Karthik an Asset
Dinesh Karthik hasn’t been among the runs in the tourney. But we should not forget that he has been around the team for more than a decade. He has got a wide range of shots that can surprise the opponent. The batter would rue the fact that he had a golden chance to stamp authority against South Africa where he was dismissed cheaply.
There are chances that he may not play against Bangladesh due to an injury. The management would be well aware of the fact that changing the lineup at this stage can affect the dynamics of the team. The team would be aiming for a top finish as momentum is everything in this format.
