“Embarrassing Loss” – Twitter Reacts As England Thrash India By 10 Wickets To Book A Date With Pakistan In T20 World Cup 2022 Final

The second semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 saw the battle between Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team and Jos Buttler-led England National Cricket Team. The first men’s World Cup knockout encounter between these two sides in 35 years took place at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday, November 10.
England National Cricket Team thrashed India National Cricket Team by 10 wickets to book a date with Pakistan National Cricket Team in the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. This was England’s 11th T20I win over India and 2nd overall victory in T20 World Cups. Also, this was the first time a team winning the toss managed to win a men’s T20I at the Adelaide Oval in 12 games.
Earlier, England National Cricket Team won the toss and opted to bowl first in the blockbuster match. India were quite happy with the toss as they wanted to bat first anyway.

The Three Lions were forced to make two big changes to the playing XI as reliable middle-order batter Dawid Malan and the pace spearhead Mark Wood were out with injuries and Phil Salt and Chris Jordan were included in the team. On the other hand, the Men In Blue fielded the same team where Rishabh Pant was picked over Dinesh Karthik.
Batting first, openers – Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul – once again failed to provide the team with a good start. Rahul’s awful run in the big matches continued and he was cleaned up for 5 by Chris Woakes in the 2nd over itself.
After losing the wicket of Rahul, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli batted cautiously and added 47 runs in 43 balls. Rohit, who struggled for the most part of his innings, scored 27 runs off 28 balls, including 4 fours, before being cleaned up by Chris Jordan in the 9th over.
Also, the No.1 ranked T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav, who once again looked comfortable out in the middle, was unable to play a big knock for his side. The 32-year-old was dismissed by leg-spinner Adil Rashid in the 12th over and he scored 14 runs off 10 balls, including 1 four and 1 six.
Then, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya had an amazing 61-run stand that helped Team India gain back the momentum in the match. After Kohli got out, the star all-rounder Pandya continued his domination and helped India reach 168/6.
Hardik Pandya smashed sensational 63 runs off 33 balls, including 4 fours and 5 sixes, while Kohli scored 50 runs off 40 balls, including 4 fours and 1 six.
Chasing the target, England openers – Alex Hales and Jos Buttler – were off to a flying start in the match and they completed the 50-run partnership in the 5th over itself. At the end of the powerplay, the Three Lions were at 63/0.
England openers kept batting aggressively and Indian bowlers, who looked low on confidence, failed miserably in the match. The England openers had a remarkable 170-run partnership in 16 overs. This was the highest opening stand by England National Cricket Team in T20I history. Alex Hales smashed 86* runs off 47 balls, including 4 fours and 7 sixes, while Jos Buttler smashed 80* runs off 49 balls, including 9 fours and 3 sixes.

Anti climax! India completely outplayed. England read the pitch perfectly, adapted superbly, but even more importantly, bowled and batted brilliantly
— Cricketwallah (@cricketwallah) November 10, 2022
Congratulations to England. First over of England innings Buttler took on Bhuvi a match up well in Indias favour, the risk paid off and India could not counteract. Small moments in a World Cups set's up success. #INDvENG #T20WorldCup

England's win as memorable as it was comprehensive. Now to convince them and Pakistan to wear 1992 Cup shirts for the final at the MCG #T20WorldCup

Awesome from Hales and Buttler. That was an all-time spanking. India paying the price for their slow top-order batting, plus a rare failure for Suryakumar.
— Lawrence Booth (@the_topspin) November 10, 2022
There's a real beauty about England winning a T20 World Cup semi without losing a single wicket.
Against India.
In 16 overs.
And with a six to finish.— Paul Hayward (@_PaulHayward) November 10, 2022
On KL Rahul, he was in the same u19 group as Joe Root. Not everyone will reach Root’s brilliance, but how long can we talk about Rahul as having ‘talent’ & ‘potential’? He’s 31 and has been given a long run. Keeps failing when it matters. #T20WorldCup #INDvENG #INDvsENG ??????????

Proper batting @alexhales1 & @josbuttler ? … What a final we have in store for Sunday! @englandcricket @TherealPCB #INDvsENG
— Darren Gough MBE (@DGoughie) November 10, 2022
This is a very embarrassing loss for India. England always had the advantage considering the venue, conditions and their long batting line-up, but losing a semi-final clash like this is just very poor. #INDvENG | #T20WorldCup
— Prasenjit Dey (@CricPrasen) November 10, 2022
Thoroughly enjoying England’s batting though. The shots, the technique, the confidence. That’s T20 !
They’ve made it an air show ! #T20Iworldcup2022 #ENGvsIND #T20WorldCup

England could win this by an innings.#ICCT20WorldCup
— Greg Baum (@GregBaum) November 10, 2022
Annihilation! India have had no answer to England today, batting or bowling
— Cricketwallah (@cricketwallah) November 10, 2022
To bat like this in a World Cup semi-final is the ultimate vindication of England's approach. Bilateral cricket is one thing; Jos Buttler and Alex Hales playing like this with everything on the line is simply exceptional. One of the most impressive England wins I can remember.
— Ben Jones (@benjonescricket) November 10, 2022
There will be a lot of debate about India's batting approach & eventual total: it was under-par according to PitchViz – but given the way England have batted, even if India score over-par, England probably would've chased it. They've just been far too good. #T20WorldCup

Shown the door for the 4th best team finishing as the fourth best?
They are finishing exactly where they should have based on the strength of the teams prior to the tournament. Can be disappointed that they were unable to cash in on the exits of Australia and South Africa. https://t.co/iRuUQeL6LF

People blaming this loss because someone sitting 1000s of miles away predicted Ind to win nahi to apne batsman tayar hi baitha tha 27 ball 100 marne ke liye ???

Sadly Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have to say Goodbye to T20Is.

Pakistan 55/0 yesterday, Eng 63/0 today. Clear intent in PP. No better approach to chasing totals down. Brutal stuff from Buttler & Hales. Took risks, went over the circle, used field restrictions to their advantage.
— Rehan Ulhaq (@Rehan_ulhaq) November 10, 2022
Approach: all tournament our approach has been conservative. England has just showed what T20 batting is all about. @RevSportz #ICCT20WorldCup

Only interest left in this game is whether Hales can get to his hundred. India handed an absolute shellacking by England.#INDvENG #T20WorldCup

This is now the highest opening stand by England's men in T201 cricket. previous record (143) held by Hales and Lumb.

and we wonder why Phil Salt won't be answering the whatsapps next week
— Barney Ronay (@barneyronay) November 10, 2022
Yet another campaign that ends in the semi final. India seriously needs to look at its approach. We heard a lot of talk about approach. Did not see any of it. Power plays were poor. England showed how it’s done. This is a sad result. One sided. #ICCT20WorldCup @RevSportz

and so much unused power on the bench. Adil Rashid, carded at No11, has 10 first-class hundreds
