ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022: 3 Reasons Why Bhuvneshwar Kumar Is Destined To Fail In The World Cup

1. Poor Performance in Recent Series

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been a regular bowler for India in the white-ball format for the past few years. Due to his consistent performances, the right-arm pacer has managed to get a permanent spot in T20Is and ODIs. However, in the last few T20I series, he has failed to grab the spotlight.

In the last T20I series against Australia, Kumar picked just 1 wicket in 2 games. In a prior T20I series against West Indies in July this year, he grabbed 3 wickets across 4 games. He was outstanding prior to that, winning the man of the series award against Australia in early July and against South Africa in June.

2. High Economy Rate in Death Overs

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has a good bowling economy of 7.02 in his T20I career so far. However, his economy in the death overs in the recent time has come as a big concern for the team. During Asia Cup 2022, he was carted away for many runs in the final few overs.

Some of those expensive overs also resulted in India’s loss. Newcomer Arshdeep Singh bowled far better than Bhuvneshwar while bowling the 20th over in Asia Cup 2022. Hence, Bhuvnehwar Kumar’s bowling in the death is a big concern for India.

Jasprit Bumrah is a powerful pacer for India. His absence in ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 is a big concern for India. If Jasprit Bumrah was there in the squad, he could have given great support to Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Bumrah would have taken off taken a lot of load off Bhuvi’s shoulders and would have helped and guided him during crucial moments. However, in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has a lot of responsibility and this might put pressure on him during matches.
