Updated - 15 Oct 2022, 07:23 PM

Virat Kohli will be a powerful asset for India during ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. The former India skipper was facing poor form in the first half of this year. However, he gained his form back during Asia Cup 2022, when he finished as the top run-getter for the team and also slammed his first-ever T20I century.

Virat Kohli manages a prominent batting position for India. He bats at the no.3 batting slot. He was the skipper of the team for about 8 years, however, did not manage to win any ICC tournament under his captainship. Last year, India faced a humiliating exit in T20 World Cup under Kohli’s leadership. Here we talk about 3 reasons why Virat Kohli is destined to fail in the World Cup.

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022: 3 Reasons Why Virat Kohli Is Destined To Fail In The World Cup

1. Struggling To Bat Well In Knockout Games

Virat Kohli is a powerful batsman and he has played numerous match-winning knocks for India. However, the right-handed batsman has often failed in knockout games. For instance, he got out for a low score during ICC ODI World Cup 2015 quarter-final against Australia.

He also got out cheaply in ICC Champions Trophy 2017 final against Pakistan. ICC T20 World Cup 2019 semi-final against New Zealand was another game when Kohli failed to come up with a good show. Hence, if he fails to score runs in the knockout games in ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, his batting will provide no advantage to the team’s success in the tournament.

Virat Kohli has led India in many ICC tournaments and the team also reached the semi-finals and finals under his captainship. However, he did not manage to win a single ICC tournament under his captainship.

Kohli is among the most successful captains for India. But if they take a look at his stats in ICC tournaments, he failed to win titles again and again despite having a powerful team. Hence, this bad luck might follow him once again in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022.

3. Off-Side Weakness

Virat Kohli has a big weakness on the far offside. This year, he lost his wicket many times while trying to play far off-side delivery. The right-handed batsman lost his wicket many times in the same fashion.

It also became a topic of discussion among fans and experts as the former India skipper repeatedly lost his wicket against off-side deliveries. Many foreign bowlers know this fact very well and will use it as a strategy to outplay the Indian batter.
