As the Jasprit Bumrah situation develops, India’s depth in fast bowling will be called into question.

No one has yet been willing to consider a prospective replacement since Sourav Ganguly, a figure of such stature has stated that there is a remote possibility that Bumrah would be fit for the World Cup in Australia. Soon enough, the problem may need to be discussed.

“Let us wait and see what occurs. Bumrah is still in the World Cup, Yes, fingers crossed. We should know within the next two or three days. Do not dismiss him just yet” On Friday, Ganguly spoke to the media in Kolkata.

While the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may be speaking with optimism rather than confidence, no one in Indian cricket is taking names for who will be his replacement if the situation arises.

Jasprit Bumrah has been replaced by Mohammed Siraj for the South Africa T20Is:

As per Cricbuzz, Bumrah underwent scans on Friday, and the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru is currently conducting an evaluation. First impressions indicate that the pacer for India’s team’s back injury may not be as severe as first believed.

But there is no assurance he will be present for the highlight event in Australia. By Monday, when the team management and national selectors will consider a replacement, if necessary, the precise scenario will be known.

There could be a sizable number of players waiting in line. Currently, Mohammed Siraj has replaced Bumrah for the series, and Umesh Yadav, who did not travel with the team to the World Cup, is in the lineup for the South Africa T20Is. Both are competing, along with Avesh Khan, who participated in the Asia Cup campaign.

Mohammed Shami, a member of the reserves, gives off the idea that he needs to play a few more matches before being selected for the Indian World Cup team. There is a likelihood that he will be asked to play in the three one-day internationals against South Africa from October 6 to October 11 despite having recently recovered from Covid-19. After the three ODIs, he might take a flight to Australia.

On October 6, the Indian team will depart for Australia, while the South Africans will remain in India for an additional week to play the Shikhar Dhawan-led ODI team.
