ICC T20 World Cup 2022: Dawid Malan Injury A Concern For England

England Cricket Team registered a nervy victory over mighty Sri Lanka. England won the match by 4 wickets with 2 balls left where Ben Stokes played a match-winning knock of 42 runs in 36 balls where he made sure that there are no hiccups in the run-chase.
Sri Lanka on the other hand would rue the fact that they weren’t able to post a formidable total on board. Sri Lanka scored only 25 runs and lost 5 wickets in the last 5 overs of the match. It won’t be wrong to say that Sri Lanka doesn’t have a proper pinch hitter present at the back end of the innings.
Dawid Malan Injureleft-handed
During Sri Lanka’s batting, the left handed batter was seen in discomfort during the 15th over. Malan also didn’t come into bat as Ben Stokes came up the order at the No.3 position. Jos Buttler, the skipper was asked about Malan’s injury. “It’s too early to tell, but fingers crossed he’ll pull up well.” said Buttler.
Conundrum for Management
The management would be worried as Malan is someone who can bat through the innings and make his presence count. Phil Salt is the most likely batter to replace Malan in case he isn’t fit. It would be interesting to see whether Salt gets a game right away and at the same time, he is not used to bat in the middle over.
Skipper Jos Buttler would be aware that changing the line up can affect the dynamics of the match. There are chances that England may use Sam Curran at the top of the order as he can be the trump card. England is all set to play their semi-final match at Adelaide on 10th November where their opponent team is yet to be decided.
