Ireland Cricket Team has dealt with a huge blow with the injury of Craig Young. The right-arm pacer has been a vital cog for the Irish. Ireland has named his replacement in the form of Graham Hume. He made his international debut in July 2022 against New Zealand and then he was handed the cap of T20I against Afghanistan in the next month.
Ireland would be hoping that the pacer gets quickly acclimatized to Australian Conditions; as the warm-up fixtures are scheduled on the 11th & 13th of October. The pacer might prove a surprise package for opponents as studying a new pacer on short notice is a bit tough.
Cricket Ireland on Craig Young
Mark Rausa, Head of Physiotherapy and Medical Services at Cricket Ireland made a statement on Craig Young: “Unfortunately, whilst out in Sydney for our T20 World Cup prep camp, Craig experienced a recurrence of a chronic issue which we have been managing for quite some time. Whilst we thought we were on top of the issue, it sadly flared up once we arrived in Sydney and began training. Craig will now return home for an assessment with our medical specialists to plan out his rehab,” said Mark Rausa.
Tough Road Ahead for Ireland
Ireland Cricket Team is placed in a dangerous group that consists of the West Indies, Zimbabwe & Scotland. All these 3 teams won’t give an inch and would make life harder for Ireland. In the last year’s T20 World Cup, Ireland was knocked out in the qualifying stage.
Ireland has got players which can win them matches, but they are not performing according to their credentials. The role of Stirling & Balbirnie would be extremely critical as these two batters know how to play long & significant innings. It would be interesting to see how the team performs in tough conditions. Their biggest competitor would be West Indies and if they upset them, then it’s game on.
