Moeen Ali, a seasoned all-rounder for England, said he is “totally excited” after his team won the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia. The 35-year-old added that playing against Pakistan in the championship game at MCG was the “greatest game” he has ever played.

Although Moeen Ali’s 13-ball 19 in the championship match may not seem like much of a contribution, it occurred at a crucial point in the game when the run rate was beginning to increase as the overs ran out.

Moeen accomplished the task of increasing the scoring rate and relieving Ben Stokes’ workload perfectly by scoring at a strike rate of 146.15.

It Felt Like The Biggest Game I Have Ever Played In: Moeen Ali

“It felt like the biggest game I’ve ever played in because obviously, I was so desperate to win it,” Moeen was quoted as saying by ICC. “I feel like as a team we deserved it. I’m absolutely buzzing,” he added.

The seasoned all-rounder noted that it had really hurt him to win the championship after missing out in 2016 and losing last year in the UAE semifinals after such a strong run.

When England beat New Zealand at Lord’s to win the Cricket World Cup in 2019, Moeen was compelled to watch from the sidelines.

“To win the World Cup after 2016, missing out in the final (England lost to the West Indies in the summit clash), then the semifinal (last year in UAE) where we probably felt we should have won, and then coming out here (in Australia)… it was an amazing performance,” added Moeen Ali.

The opening game of the three-match ODI series between England and Australia will take place at Adelaide Oval on Thursday. Many athletes and support staff are upset about how long there was between two assignments.
