ICC T20 World Cup 2022: ICC Reveals Most Valuable Team Of The Tournament, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav Included

On Monday, November 14, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the Most Valuable Team of the recently concluded ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, and from India two Indian batters – Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav – were included in the team.

The marquee ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 ended on Sunday, November 13, with the Jos Buttler-led England National Cricket Team defeating Babar Azam-led Pakistan National Cricket Team by 5 wickets in the summit clash at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

The Three Lions managed to capture their second T20 World Cup championship, having won their first T20 World Cup title in 2010. Also, England have become the first-ever team to hold the 50-over World Cup title and the 20-over World Cup title at the same time.

Meanwhile, players from six different countries – England, Pakistan, New Zealand, India, Zimbabwe and South Africa – have been included in the ICC’s Most Valuable Team of the T20 World Cup 2022.

Four players from England have been named in the playing XI, two players each from Pakistan and India have been featured in the glittering line up while one player each from South Africa, Zimbabwe and New Zealand has been included.

Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav Slotted At No.3 and No.4 In Most Valuable Team Of The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup

India’s No.3 Virat Kohli and No.4 Suryakumar Yadav were the top-2 performers for the Men In Blue in the batting department in the marquee tournament.

The modern-day batting legend Kohli scored 296 runs in 6 innings at a staggering average of 98.66 and a strike rate of 136.40. On the other hand, the No.1 ranked T20I batter Suryakumar smashed 239 runs in 6 innings at an amazing average of 59.75 and an exceptional strike rate of 189.68.

Kohli finished as the highest run-getter in the tournament and Suryakumar finished at the No.3 spot on the list of leading run-getters in the tournament.

Also, premier Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been included in ICC’s T20 World Cup team of the tournament as the 12th player. The star all-rounder, who is looked at as the future white-ball captain of the Men In Blue, scored 128 runs in the tournament at an average of 25.60 and with the ball, he bagged eight wickets.

“The side was pulled together by a selection panel featuring commentators, former international players and journalists Ian Bishop (Convener), Mel Jones (both commentators), Shivnarine Chanderpaul (ICC Hall of Famer), Partha Bhaduri (Journalist, The Times of India), Wasim Khan (ICC General Manager of Cricket),” ICC said in an official media release.

Most Valuable Team of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 (in batting order):

  1. Alex Hales (England) – 212 runs at 42.40
  2. Jos Buttler (c/wk) (England) – 225 runs at 45.00 and nine dismissals
  3. Virat Kohli (India) – 296 runs at 98.66
  4. Suryakumar Yadav (India) – 239 runs at 59.75
  5. Glenn Phillips (New Zealand) – 201 runs at 40.20
  6. Sikandar Raza (Zimbabwe) – 219 runs at 27.37 and 10 wickets at 15.60
  7. Shadab Khan (Pakistan) – 98 runs at 24.50 and 11 wickets at 15.00
  8. Sam Curran (England) – 13 wickets at 11.38
  9. Anrich Nortje (South Africa) – 11 wickets at 8.54
  10. Mark Wood (England) – 9 wickets at 12.00
  11. Shaheen Shah Afridi (Pakistan) – 11 wickets at 14.09
  12. Hardik Pandya (India) – 128 runs at 25.60 and eight wickets at 18.25
