ICC T20 World Cup 2022: It’s So Difficult To Fill Jasprit Bumrah's Place, India Will Miss Him Tremendously – Dale Steyn

Legendary South Africa National Cricket Team pacer Dale Steyn has said that the India National Cricket Team will be “tremendously” missing the services of the pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.

India National Cricket Team premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah has officially been ruled out of the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and his absence is a big setback for the already struggling Indian bowling department.

Bumrah picked up a back injury ahead of the Asia Cup 2022 that ruled him out of the multi-nation tournament. The pacer made his comeback to the side in the second T20I game of the three-match series against Australia and played two games. He was expected to feature in the subsequent three-match T20I series against South Africa, but he missed the first game after complaining of back pain and later he got ruled out of the series.

Speaking on Star Sports show ‘Cricket Live’, Steyn shared his views on Bumrah’s absence from India’s squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. He said that it will be very difficult for any player to fill in for “world-class player” Bumrah in the squad. The pace bowling great also feels that the replacement player of Bumrah has to level up his game in the marquee tournament.

“It’s a tough one. You can hope that the World Cup brings an opportunity for somebody to kind of be better than they actually are sometimes. They perform way better than they normally would.” Steyn said while speaking on Star Sports show ‘Cricket Live’.

“So, whoever takes his place, I hope that would be the case for them. Whoever gets selected, You probably want them to raise their game by a small percentage because of the hole that they are filling. Somebody like Bumrah, it’s so difficult to fill his place. He is such a world-class player. India will miss him tremendously in this World Cup.”

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, which is the eighth edition of the multi-nation tournament, is scheduled to be played from October 16 to November 13 in Australia.
