ICC T20 World Cup 2022: Jasprit Bumrah Officially Ruled Out Of Marquee Tournament, Confirms BCCI

India National Cricket Team pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has officially been ruled out of the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, confirmed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday, October 3. The premier pacer’s absence is a big setback for the already struggling Indian bowling department.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, which is the eighth edition of the multi-nation tournament, is scheduled to be played from October 16 to November 13 in Australia.

Notably, Jasprit Bumrah had suffered a back injury ahead of the Asia Cup 2022 that ruled him out of the multi-nation tournament.

He made a comeback to the side in the second T20I game of the three-match series against Australia. The pace spearhead was expected to feature in the three-match T20I series against South Africa, but he got ruled out of the series due to a back injury and Mohammed Siraj was named as his replacement.

After Bumrah missed out on the game against South Africa, reports emerged that the pacer has suffered a severe injury that will rule him out of the ICC Men’s T20 World 2022 and now the BCCI has officially confirmed the development.

In an official media release, the BCCI stated that the decision has been made to rule Bumrah out of the marquee tournament following a detailed assessment and in consultation with the specialists. Also, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will soon name Bumrah’s replacement in the World Cup squad.

“The BCCI Medical team has ruled out Team India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup squad. The decision was taken following a detailed assessment and in consultation with the specialists.

“Bumrah was initially ruled out from the ongoing Mastercard 3-match T20I series against South Africa due to a back injury.

“The BCCI will be naming a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah in the squad for the marquee tournament soon,” BCCI said in an official media release.
