The 22-year-old fast bowling all-rounder Marco Jansen has replaced injured Dwaine Pretorius in the South Africa National Cricket Team 15-member squad for the forthcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, which is the eighth edition of the multi-nation tournament, is scheduled to be played from October 16 to November 13 in Australia. South Africa National Cricket Team are placed in group 2 of the marquee tournament along with India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. They will also be joined by two qualifying teams.
Meanwhile, the star 33-year-old fast bowling all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius, who has been a key member of the Proteas setup, has been ruled out of the marquee tournament due to a fracture on his left thumb.
On Thursday, October 6, Cricket South Africa (CSA) revealed that Pretorius fractured his left thumb during the third match of the three-match T20I series against the India National Cricket Team and the injury will keep him out of action for a while.
Marco Jansen Included In 15-member Squad, Lizaad Williams Added To Reserves
On Wednesday, October 12, Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced that Jansen, who was included in the South Africa National Cricket Team squad for the recently concluded three-match ODI series against Shikhar Dhawan-led India National Cricket Team as a replacement for Pretorius, will also replace the senior all-rounder in the World Cup squad.
Also, the 29-year-old pacer Lizaad Williams has been named as Jansen’s replacement in the travelling reserves.
