Australia will play a three-match T20 series against England before the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. The series will begin on Sunday, October 09, 2022, at Optus Stadium, Perth.

Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has been nursing a side strain, but confirmed that he passed a fitness test on Wednesday. He declared himself fully fit to bat and bowl in his first match since the one-day international against New Zealand in Cairns a month ago.

“I had a good solid bowl yesterday and our physio Nick Jones is over here as well, so he ticked that off and everyone is pretty happy,” Stoinis said.

After Marcus Stoinis was recalled to Australia’s squad for the T20 series against England, Cameron Green’s chances of playing in the Twenty20 World Cup seem over. Green wasn’t included in the World Cup squad when Australia’s team was announced early last month, but he impressed at the top of the order in the subsequent tour of India.

The 23-year-old opened the innings alongside senior opener David Warner, as Aaron Finch moved down to No. 4 against the West Indies in the first T20I.

Cameron Green Is Like little brother – Marcus Stoinis

The 33-year-old said he was proud of his “little brother,” fellow West Australian Cameron Green, who was called up late for the India and West Indies T20 series.

“For me and for probably us (Stoinis and Ashton Agar), Cameron Green is like our little brother here,” Stoinis said.

“I play club cricket with him (at Subiaco-Floreat) so we’re proud of him, he’s got such a bright future ahead of him and we’re happy for him.”

I’m Feeling Good – Ashton Agar

Ashton Agar, returning to the team after a side strain, says his body is fine. The left-arm spinner is expected to play against England as they prepare for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Australia will begin their campaign in the mega tournament against New Zealand at the SCG on October 22.

“I’m feeling good,” he said.

“It’s always hard coming back to batting and bowling, just getting the confidence back in your body so I’m just trying to string together some good sessions at the moment and get that confidence back so I can hit the ground running whenever that may be.”
