ICC T20 World Cup 2022: Phil Simmons Wants West Indies 'To Start Being Professional' After Batting Collapse

West Indies Cricket Team had a horrendous start to the T20 World Cup Qualifiers. Scotland completely outplayed the team and now once again there are question marks raised over West Indies batters. The skipper Nicholas Pooran should have taken the responsibility of taking the team closer to the target.
Scotland on the other hand would be pumped up after this performance. The team now has a golden chance to make an entry into the main tournament. Scotland was pretty much clinical as defeating two-time T20 World Cup Champions is never easy by any means.
Phil Simmons on West Indies
West Indies Head Coach West Indies was seen interacting with the media and was asked about the team’s performance.
“I think the only world you can look for is ‘disappointed’. I think our batting – at least today – was definitely a bit unprofessional. We need to wake up and start being as professional as we can be, when we are batting.
“The bowlers seem to be working hard and putting us in good positions but the batters continue to falter,” Simmons said.
Poor Performance from West Indies
Chasing 161 runs is not a big task in modern cricket where a couple of partnerships are enough to win the match. West Indies were in a pretty good position at 58-2 and then they got folded for 116 runs. This problem has been going on for quite a few times now and the batters don’t take responsibility at all.
West Indies need to pull their socks and forget about the defeat. One more loss would eventually mean that they are out of the tournament. The management should promote Jason Holder up the order as he is someone who can provide stability in the middle overs phase.
