ICC T20 World Cup 2022 Points Table After Pakistan vs Netherlands

The Babar Azam-led Pakistan National Cricket Team have registered a comprehensive 6-wicket win over the Scott Edwards-led Netherlands National Cricket Team in the 29th match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.

This was the first victory of the Men In Green in the ongoing edition of the multi-nation tournament. Babar Azam and Co. had lost their tournament opener against arch-rivals India National Cricket Team by 4 wickets at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Also, they faced a shock defeat by 1-run against Craig Ervine-led Zimbabwe National Cricket Team at the Optus Stadium in Perth.

Speaking of the clash between the Men In Green and the Netherlands, Scott Edwards won the toss and opted to bat first. The decision to bat first was not a favourable one for the side as the struggle of the Dutch in the batting department continued and they were restricted to 91/9 in 20 overs.

Except for Mohammad Nawaz, every bowler was amongst wickets. Shadab Khan bagged three wickets and Mohammad Wasim bagged two wickets while Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf bagged one wicket each.

Babar Azam Fails Again In T20 World Cup

Chasing a mediocre total, the Men In Green lost the wicket of skipper Babar Azam in the second over itself. The 28-year-old scored 4 runs off 5 balls, before getting run out at the bowler’s end. This was his third consecutive failure in the mega event as he had registered scores of 0 and 4 in the previous two games.

Mohammad Rizwan, who also failed in the first two games in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, scored good 49 runs off 39 balls, including 5 fours, before being cleaned up by Paul van Meekeren in the 13th over.

Fakhar Zaman scored 20 runs and Shan Masood scored 12 runs before getting dismissed by Brandon Glover. In the end, Iftikhar Ahmed and Shadab Khan remained unbeaten and guided the Men In Green to their first victory in the ongoing edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. This was also the first-ever T20I win of Team Pakistan in Australia.

India National Cricket Team and Bangladesh National Cricket Team are in the first two positions on the points table in Group 2 with two wins each. Meanwhile, Pakistan National Cricket Team have moved to 5th position with a net run rate of +0.765.
