ICC T20 World Cup 2022: Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav Among 9 Players Shortlisted For Player Of The Tournament

On Friday, November 11, the International Cricket Council (ICC) revealed the list of players nominated for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 Player of the Tournament and two Indian players – Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli – have made the list.
Star batters Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav were two of the biggest positives for the India National Cricket Team in their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 campaign.

India’s World Cup campaign ended with a humiliating 10-wicket defeat against Jos Buttler-led England National Cricket Team in the second semi-final at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday.
Throughout the multi-nation tournament only two Indian batters – Suryakumar and Kohli – delivered good performances consistently.
The modern-day batting legend Kohli scored 296 runs in 6 innings at a humongous average of 98.66 and a strike rate of 136.40. Talking about the No.1 ranked T20I batter Suryakumar, in 6 innings, the 32-year-old smashed 239 runs at an amazing average of 59.75 and an exceptional strike rate of 189.68.
Kohli finished his campaign as the highest run-getter in the tournament while Suryakumar is currently at the No.3 spot on the list of leading run-getters in the tournament.
Three England Players, Two Pakistan Players, One Each From Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe Also Nominated For Player Of The Tournament
Overall, 9 players have been nominated for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 Player of the Tournament. Among the finalists, three nominees are from England and two nominees are from Pakistan. The remaining players are from India (2), Zimbabwe (1) and Sri Lanka (1) and the fans will get the chance to vote and decide the winner.
Sam Curran, Jos Buttler and Alex Hales are the three English players who have been shortlisted for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 Player of the Tournament. In five matches, Curran has picked up 10 wickets at an average of 13.60 and an economy of 7.28. Captain Jos Buttler has smashed 199 runs in 5 innings at a strike rate of 143.16, including two half-centuries. Also, Alex Hales has smashed 211 runs in five matches at a strike rate of 148.59, including two half-centuries.
From Pakistan, Shadab Khan and Shaheen Shah Afridi have made the list. All-rounder Shadab has bagged 10 wickets in six matches at an economy of 6.59 and with the bat, his crucial contribution came during Pakistan’s must-win contest against South Africa in Sydney. The young left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi has overall bagged 10 wickets in six matches at an average of 14.20 and an economy of 6.17.
The remaining players are Sikandar Raza from Zimbabwe and Wanindu Hasaranga from Sri Lanka. Sikandar Raza has delivered an outstanding all-round performance in the multi-nation tournament as he has scored 219 runs in eight matches, including one half-century. With the ball, he has bagged 10 wickets.
Sri Lanka leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga continued his brilliant form in the shortest format of the game in the World Cup and he finished his campaign as the leading wicket-taker in the tournament, with 15 wickets in eight matches at an average of 13.26 and an economy of 6.41.
