Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh stated that the hosts have plans to get on top and attack spinners Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana in their upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022 match against Sri Lanka on Tuesday, October 25 at Perth Stadium.
Hasaranga is currently the joint-highest wicket-taker, having taken nine wickets from four matches. He also picked up two wickets in Sri Lanka’s nine-wicket win over Ireland. Theekshana, on the other hand, finished with figures of 4-0-19-2 against Andrew Balbirnie’s Irish unit.

Mitchell Marsh assures Perth pitch will not offer much spin
Mitchell Marsh also reckoned that the conditions in Perth may not provide a whole lot of assistance to spin bowlers.
Echoing on the same lines, he said, “I know for a fact that it won’t be spinning as much as what it was over there. We play spin very well certainly in Australian conditions, so I’m looking forward to that challenge.”

“We know that they’ve got two world-class bowlers and Sri Lanka are a very dangerous side so we have to get our matchups right. Hopefully, spin doesn’t play a huge factor at Perth Stadium, and we can look to really attack them. They’re two key bowlers – if we can get on top of them, we’ll be ahead of the game,” Marsh added.
Australia aims to amend loss against NZ when they lock horns with Sri Lanka
Australia did not have the greatest of starts to their campaign after losing to Kane Williamson’s New Zealand by 89 runs at the Sydney Cricket Ground in their opening fixture at the showpiece event.

After being asked to chase down 201, the Aussies were bowled out for 111 in 17.1 overs. Aaron Finch and Co. will be looking to get on the points table at the earliest.
