Indian Cricket Team got a setback against South Africa. The Proteas won the match by 5 wickets and were quite clinical in all the 3 departments of the game. Wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik’s approach was quite questionable as the batter scored 6 runs in 15 balls.
South Africa on the other hand would be over the moon as now they have a great chance to top Group 2. The Proteas now have 5 points from 3 matches and have a whooping NRR of +2.77. The team has shown great fighting spirit as during the run chase they had lost 3 wickets inside power-play overs.
Gautam Gambhir On Dinesh Karthik
Gautam Gambhir was seen interacting with Star Sports and was asked about Dinesh Karthik. “What is Dinesh Karthik’s problem? If he gets a lot of balls to face, he is not able to figure out the tempo at which he has to bat. If he gets just 10-`12 balls, then there is clarity in his mind. He is then able to take on the bowlers. If there are 7-8 overs remaining, then he doesn’t have clarity over whether he should rotate the strike or block.” said Gambhir
“With the experience that Dinesh Karthik has, it’s important that he figures out the tempo and the time to attack. He can attack any bowler, he has all the shots in the book. He is a finisher too. But there are situations when your team is 5 down in the first 10 overs, then does he have the temperament to bat accordingly and build a partnership, go at run-a-ball and give yourself a chance to attack the bowlers at the death.” he added.
Great Chance for India
The Men in Blue would be aiming for a comprehensive win against Bangladesh. The team has got all the credentials to beat Bangladesh but at the same time, they would be aware that how Bangladesh defeated Zimbabwe from nowhere as taking them lightly can be risky.
South Africa on the other hand would be well aware of the fact that they should not get complacent. Their next match is against Pakistan on 03rd November where Proteas would be looking to continue their winning momentum.
