The Indian Cricket Team was stunned by South Africa where Proteas won the match by 5 wickets. The bowlers were bang on target with their lines and lengths as inside 10 overs they got 5 crucial wickets. Dinesh Karthik, the veteran batter was expected to take the team out of the muddle but he managed to score 6 runs in 15 balls.

South Africa would be mightily pleased with the performance. Lungi Ngidi was the pick of the bowlers where he took 4 wickets for 29 runs in his 4-over spell. The pacer had come into the team in the place of the left-arm chinaman Tabraiz Shamsi.

Pragyan Ojha on Dinesh Karthik

Pragyan Ojha was seen interacting with Sports Tak and was asked about Dinesh Karthik.” Dinesh Karthik, who was given a long rope and the trust was put on him, I think he should think about it. He is an experienced player; you want your senior-most players to come and deliver. That’s what David Miller did for his side. We were a few runs short. If you looked at the South African batting, they had a very solid middle-order, they have been getting those runs,” said Pragyan Ojha.

Conundrum for Management

There are chances that Dinesh Karthik may be ruled out of the Bangladesh Clash due to an injury. Rishabh Pant had to come for wicket-keeping as Karthik had some pain. Rishabh Pant not only can provide some lusty blows at the back end of the innings, but the batter can also be a force to reckon with in the middle overs.

Head Coach Rahul Dravid and Skipper Rohit Sharma would be hoping to quickly turn around things after a below-par performance. It won’t be a surprise if Yuzvendra Chahal comes into the team in the place of Axar Patel as the leg spinner can fox the batters.
