Former India cricketer Mithali Raj praised Rohit Sharma’s captaincy abilities at the ongoing tournament.

“I have enjoyed watching Rohit captain throughout this World Cup; I think some of his decisions have been brilliant. Some may argue that he could have done this better or that, but every captain makes decisions on the spur of the moment, and there are a lot of other factors the captain is considering at that time,” Mithali wrote in an ICC column.

India, who won the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007 under the leadership of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, is attempting to end a 15-year drought by reclaiming the title. Rohit Sharma was a member of the Indian side that won the 2007 T20 World Cup and is now captaining India for the first time in a World Cup.

“I could not watch that final over between India and Pakistan”: Mithali Raj

Mithali Raj, who retired from all forms of cricket earlier this year, acknowledged she would be unable to watch India’s final over against Pakistan on October 23. The former India captain stated that she began running up and down the stairs to calm her anxieties before her father told her to stop because India had won the match.

“I’ve been playing for so long that it will take some time for me to watch close tight games without feeling a player’s jitters; I couldn’t watch that final over between India and Pakistan!”

“When there were seven balls and 22 runs, I prayed to God for a miracle to win the game.” “I began running up and down the stairs to calm my nerves until they finished, and then my father told me, ‘You can stop now, we won the match,” Mithali Raj continued.

India topped Group 2 after winning four of its five matches and will now play England at the Adelaide Oval in Semi-Final 2 on Thursday, 10 November.
