Mohammad Shami, an Indian pacer, wrote an emotional note upon rejoining the Indian T20I team. One of the top candidates to replace injured Jasprit Bumrah in the T20 World Cup squad is the pacer, who hasn’t competed in that format for India since 2022.
Shami has been in excellent form in the Indian Premier League, contributing significantly to the title-winning campaign of Gujarat Titans, but he has slipped down the rankings due to his propensity to chase runs in the final overs of games.

Senior pacer Mohammed Shami bowled hard in the nets before Monday’s practice match against the hosts, Team Australia, having recently returned to the star-studded squad of the Rohit Sharma-led Team India for the T20 World Cup 2022. Jasprit Bumrah, a speed merchant, has been replaced by pace spearhead Mohammad Shami in India’s World Cup roster. Pace ace Bumrah had previously been ruled out of the main event due to a back injury.

At The Gabba in Brisbane on Monday, Rohit and company played against Australia, which was captained by Aaron Finch. Shami participated in the full session after he had recovered from Covid-19 in time for the major competition in Australia. The senior pacer relished their duel in the nets as they prepared for the practice match against Australia. Virat Kohli is a legend among batsmen.

“It required a lot of hard work”: Mohammad Shami

Mohammad Shami wrote on Twitter in the early evening of Monday, October 17, that it had taken a lot of effort, dedication, and commitment for him to return to the side.

“It required a lot of hard work, commitment and dedication to be back but the journey to Australia has been thoroughly rewarding. No better feeling than to be back with #TeamIndia and my boys. Looking forward to the World Cup,” Mohammad Shami said in his tweet.

India’s bowling lineup has issues going into the T20 World Cup. The pacers have scored rapidly in the final overs, and their star spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has struggled to claim many wickets.
