India and Pakistan are paired together in the same Super 12 group for the second time in a row. Shaheen Afridi will once again be the person India fears the most.

In the T20 World Cup last year, Pakistan defeated India by a margin of 10 wickets. The left-arm pace bowler Shaheen Afridi, who recorded three wickets that day, was named Pakistan’s player of the match.

Sachin Tendulkar Suggests Batters To Watch Out First Few Deliveries Against Shaheen Afridi

Former batting great Sachin Tendulkar has offered guidance to Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul on how to properly handle Shaheen.

“They have scored big runs at the international level and they both are capable. I am sure they would have figured out how to tackle him. Whatever I have seen of him, Shaheen Afridi likes to pitch the ball up and bring the ball back in.

He is an aggressive and attacking bowler. He will back himself to bowl full and straight. Upfront, the batters need to watch out the first few deliveries. If there is swing, keep it straight. They need to assess the conditions in the air and off the pitch upfront,” said Tendulkar.

Shaheen Afridi Looks Rusty In Warm-up Game Against England

On Monday at the Gabba, Shaheen Afridi resumed bowling as the Indian team sat in the audience. Shadab Khan, the stand-in captain, gave Shaheen the opening over as they were defending 160.

The fact that the left-arm seamer survived the match uninjured is a significant boost for Pakistan. He was rusty and lacked his customary speed. Shaheen did establish his length quite early and also produced some swing, which bothered both Alex Hales and Phil Salt despite his slower speed.

The 21-year-old got off to a strong start, giving up only two runs in his first over while preventing either of the England batters from getting a run. He only conceded five runs in his second over, giving him a spell total of 0/7 in his two overs. Afridi was introduced gradually despite Pakistan being thoroughly outplayed since the match against India was so crucial.
