When facing Pakistani pace sensation Shaheen Shah Afridi in the forthcoming T20 World Cup, batting legend Sachin Tendulkar provided some insightful advice. Shaheen’s ability to swing bowl has made him one of the best bowlers in the last couple of years.

Additionally, he regularly bowls over 140 kph, which troubled many batters; however, the top pacer was sidelined prior to the T20 World Cup due to a knee injury. As the tournament will be his first competitive cricket match in months, he will be closely watched in Australia.

When he was at the top of his game, Sachin Tendulkar faced off frequently against Wasim Akram, arguably the greatest left-arm fast bowler of all time, in limited overs cricket. The master did talk about his experiences with PTI.

Tendulkar laughed and replied, “I have not put my mind as such since I know I won’t be facing him,” when asked what he would have done if he had come up against a bowler of Shaheen’s caliber during his playing days.

“Shaheen Afridi is an attacking bowler”: Sachin Tendulkar

Shaheen is a Pakistani pacer who can beat batsmen both in the air and off the pitch, so Sachin Tendulkar advised the players to play him in the “V” formation.

“Shaheen likes to go for wickets and is an attacking bowler. He raises the ball and leans forward to swing it. With his forward pace, he has the ability to beat batters off the pitch and in the air. Thus, the best course of action with him is to play straight and inside the “V,” said Tendulkar.

Many right-handed batters, including the current India captain Rohit Sharma, were troubled by Shaheen’s inswinging deliveries during the 2021 T20 WC.

On October 23, India will face Pakistan in the T20 World Cup opening match at Melbourne Cricket Ground. India played Pakistan twice earlier this year in the Asia Cup 2022; Rohit Sharma and company won the first match but lost in the Super 12 round.
