The Rohit Sharma-led Indian team defeated Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday thanks to Virat Kohli’s unbroken 82-run innings. Ravichandran Ashwin scored the winning run with the last ball of the over, which was all the team needed.

When the winning run was scored, Ashwin and Virat Kohli lavished praise on the ball by hitting it over the head of the mid-on fielder. Dinesh Karthik was out on the penultimate pitch in the game, and Ashwin came out to bat as his team required two runs off the final ball.

The Pakistani bowler Mohammad Nawaz’s next delivery was then calmly allowed to slide down the leg side, resulting in a wide ball that tied the score. Then, to assist India in winning the next ball, he smashed the ball over mid-on.

Dinesh Karthik can be seen thanking Ashwin in a BCCI video:

The BCCI’s official social media accounts published a video of Team India travelling to Melbourne on Tuesday. On Thursday, they will play the Netherlands in their second tournament match in Melbourne.

Dinesh Karthik expressed his gratitude to Ashwin in the video, saying: “Thank you for saving me yesterday, so cool and calm.”

India is currently in second place in Group 2 of the Super-12 stage, trailing leaders Bangladesh who are in front due to a higher net run rate. The Netherlands, whom they will play on October 27, will now be the focus of the men in blue.
