Indian Cricket Team suffered their first defeat in ICC T20 World Cup 2022 against Mighty South Africa. The Men in Blue had a dismal batting performance apart from Suryakumar Yadav where the rest of the batters couldn’t make any sort of impact.

South Africa on the other hand, would be pumped up as now they are one step closer to making it to the Semi-Finals. The team showed great character as they lost 3 wickets in the power-play overs. David Miller and Aiden Markram smashed terrific half-centuries and won the match for the team.

Sunil Gavaskar on India

Former Cricketer Sunil Gavaskar was having an interaction with India Today and was asked whether the team needs to panic. “Let’s not press the panic button at all. We have 4 points and 2 matches to go. 2 matches against opponents we should be able to win. You should never taken any team lightly, Bangladesh have given us a run for the money in T20Is. So we have to be careful against them, even Zimbabwe, the way they have played in this World Cup,we have to be careful,” said Gavaskar.

Batting A Concern for India

The Men in Blue got a reality check against South Africa. The batters weren’t able to cope with the pace and bounce and it looked as if the batters weren’t ready for the steep challenge. The decision to include Deepak Hooda in the place of Axar Patel wasn’t fruitful.

The management would be worried about the form of KL Rahul as the batter looks in two minds. Head Coach Rahul Dravid and Skipper Rohit Sharma will have to make sure that the team doesn’t reflect too much on the defeat as there’s hardly any time left in the tournament.
