South African Cricket Team registered a 5-wicket win over the Mighty Indians. Due to this victory, the Proteas now are at the top of the Points Table of Group 2 with 5 points from 3 matches with an NRR of +2.85. The team showed a fighting spirit as chasing 134 runs was not that easy as the pitch was assisting the pacers.

South Africa was rocked early in the run chase where they lost 3 wickets in the power-plays for only 24 runs. It looked as if South Africa once again will throw away the match. Aiden Markram and David Miller were involved in a 76 runs partnership where they got their eye in and then unleashed an attack.

Skipper Temba Bavuma would rue that he missed a golden opportunity. The stage was set for him to play a captain’s knock but he was dismissed on 10 runs. The batter will have to quickly get back to runs as every time the middle order batters won’t bail out the team.

South Africa would be quite aware that their batters almost made a mess out of the match. It won’t be wrong to say that the Proteas don’t have a long batting lineup. The management may make some tactical changes and make Bavuma bat in the middle order as he can provide stability to the team.

The discussion was to try and up the intent- Temba Bavuma

During the post-match presentation Temba Bavuma was asked about what was team’s strategy. “The discussion was to try and up the intent. When you do that, that’s when opportunities come your way. Fortunately things did go our way and we were able to get that momentum.” said Bavuma

Our Batting line-up is in good form- Temba Bavuma

“Our batting line-up is in good form barring myself. It’s a batting unit that’s been together for a while. To come through in pressure moments will boost the guys’ confidence. “ he added.

We don’t Like Favorites Tag- Temba Bavuma

“We watched the games that were being played here and decided on the lengths. The variable bounce assisted us. We backed our execution, fortunately it came off for us. We don’t like that tag (favorites), we’ve come into the tournament as not the favorites. We’ll keep flying under the radar. It’s important we keep improving and that’s exactly what we are doing.” concluded Bavuma.
