Former India National Cricket Team captain Virat Kohli has opined that the pitches in Australia are the best for the batters and it’s just all about getting used to the pace in the Australian conditions.
Kohli is currently in Australia for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. The batting maestro has played a key role in India’s back-to-back victories in the multi-nation tournament against Pakistan and Netherlands.

I do not watch any videos. I go to the nets straight and try to figure things out – Virat Kohli
In an interview on Star Sports, Virat Kohli spoke about his preparations to play in the Australian conditions. Kohli said that he doesn’t watch videos, instead, he figures things out during the net sessions.
“I do not watch any videos. I go to the nets straight and try to figure things out. Of course, you do look stupid for the first few balls. But there is a natural instinct, you know batting, you react. After this, you realise that if a ball bounces this way, you have to be upright instead of being low in your stance,
“You cannot come prepared from India. You figure out the conditions and you adapt on the field. There are no wickets better for batting than the ones in Australia if you get used to pace here,” he said.
Kohli has been highly successful in the Australian conditions as in 66 international innings, he has scored 3274 runs at an average of 56.44, including 11 centuries and 17 half-centuries.
Also, in T20Is in Australia, Virat Kohli has smashed 7 half-centuries in 12 innings, which is the joint-most by any player. Other players to score 7 half-centuries in Australia are Aussie players David Warner (29 innings) and Aaron Finch (42 innings).
