The 40-year-old Pakistan National Cricket Team player Shoaib Malik showered ultimate praise on the star India National Cricket Team middle-order batter, Suryakumar Yadav, saying that he has got the ability to play with the brain of the bowlers bowling to him.

The 32-year-old Suryakumar Yadav, who is unarguably one of the best batters in the shortest format of the game currently, has so far played 35 T20I innings in which he has scored 1179 runs at an average of 40.66 and a strike rate of 177.03.

Speaking on A Sports ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 match between India and South Africa, Malik applauded Suryakumar’s ability to execute scoop and lap shots to perfection.

“Woh jo shots maarta hai, Suryakumar, peeche ki taraf jo khelta hai. But unka technique hi itni achi hai ki bounce na bhi mile toh bhi peeche ki taraf khel sakti hai (The shot he plays, where he hits behind…his technique is so good that even if he doesn’t get that elevation, he still manages to execute the shot),” he said.

“Woh bowler ke dimag ke saath bhi khel sakta hai. Conditions yaha pe different hai aur idhr iss tarike ki shots khelne kiliye dil chaiye (He can play with bowler’s mind as well. Conditions at Perth will be different for the South Africa game but to play these shots you need to be bold),” Malik further added.

“If he scores on short balls, maybe the bowler will bowl fuller. It is very important for middle-order batters to play with the mind of the bowlers,” he added.

The veteran Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik expected Suryakumar to have a tough outing against South Africa in Perth, but the middle-order batter played an absolutely stunning knock.

All the Indian batters, except Suryakumar Yadav, struggled against Proteas’ pace attack on the bouncy surface and they were able to post 133 for 9 on the board. Suryakumar Yadav scored 68 runs off 40 balls, including 6 fours and 3 sixes, while the rest of the batters scored 57 runs off 80 balls. However, India faced a 5-wicket defeat in the match.
