India beat Bangladesh by five runs through the Duckworth-Lewis method in the Super 12 match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 at the Adelaide Oval on Wednesday, November 2. Team India almost secured their place in the semi-finals with a win in the rain-affected game.

Virat Kohli and KL Rahul both smashed half-centuries as India posted an above-par total of 184 for the loss of 20 overs. The former India captain showed his class with his brilliant innings of 66 off 44 balls, including eight fours and a six, and was named the Man of the Match.

Bangladesh dominated the run chase, with Litton smashing a 21-ball half-century. The right-handed batsman scored 60 runs off just 27 balls to lead the team to an easy victory. They had raced to 66 for no loss in seven overs, leading by 17 runs on the DLS par score. But the game was interrupted by rain, and the whole innings changed.

When play resumed, Bangladesh were given a revised target of 151 in 16 overs, but Rahul dismissed Das with a brilliant throw over deep midwicket off the second ball of the eighth over. Following this, Bangladesh’s team collapsed, scoring only 145 runs for six wickets.

Former Indian captain Virat Kohli gifted a bat to Litton Das after the match. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) cricket operations chairman, Jalal Yunus, confirmed the same. Yunus also praised Litton for giving Bangladesh realistic chance of beating India in Adelaide.
