IND vs ZIM: "Whenever We Get Time During Training, We Focus On My Run-up"- Arshdeep Singh Working Hard To Be More Consistent

A fast bowler cannot afford to give up too many loose deliveries at the international level, according to the young pacer Arshdeep Singh, who claimed he always tries to concentrate on consistency.
Arshdeep, who specializes in death over yorkers, gives the Indian bowling lineup a new dimension and gives them a real left-arm swing option early in the innings. Arshdeep consistently exudes serenity and control under pressure, which has earned him high accolades for his World Cup efforts thus far.
Arshdeep returned to deliver the penultimate over in the tense encounter against Bangladesh on Wednesday, defending 20 runs against Nurul Hasan and Taskin Ahmed while maintaining his poise. Arshdeep maintained his composure and bowled the first two deliveries to give India a suspenseful five-run victory despite being destroyed by Hasan for a six and a four.
Focus Is To Bowl 5-6 Good Balls: Arshdeep Singh
Speaking exclusively with Irfan Pathan on the Star Sports show ‘Follow the Blues’, Arshdeep Singh spoke about how he prepares himself for big tournaments such as the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
“The main thing was consistency. You know you cannot bowl loose balls on the international level because batters are of very high calibre and they punish loose balls. So the focus is to bowl 5-6 good balls (in an over) and the results are there to be seen.”
Bowling coach Paras Mhmabrey has been working with the young speedster. Arshdeep has been trying to get his run-up more aligned to increase his consistency.
“Whenever we get time during training, we focus on my run-up. He (Mhambrey) has told me that I will get more consistent if my run-up is straight. You cannot afford to give batters room to score in Australia.
So, I’m trying to run in straight to try and get the ball to shape in towards right-handed batsmen. That is the main focus and you can see the results now and I will strive to do even better in the future,” he said.
Two Practice Games Helped Us To Figure Out What Lengths To Bowl: Arshdeep Singh
Arshdeep added that he attempted to control his length while adjusting to the Australian conditions as soon as possible and the two practice games also helped.
“I won’t say it was difficult. Our motto as a team has always been to prepare well. We landed in Perth about 10 days earlier. The effort was to find right lengths quickly because it’s different for all three of us- Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami and me.
So we had to figure it out ourselves. The two practice games helped us to figure out what lengths to bowl, what length we need to hit for bouncers. I guess good preparation led to good results.”
