India Vs Australia: “We Didn't Capitalize Towards The End”- Australia Captain Aaron Finch After 6-Run Loss To India In ICC T20 World Cup 2022 Warmup Match

Australia captain Aaron Finch was praiseful of his team for restricting India to 186/7 in their ICC T20 World Cup 2022 warmup fixture in Gabba, Brisbane on October 17, 2022, but said that they faltered when it comes to batting in the death overs, as they lost the match by 6 runs in the end.

Finch had won the toss and chosen to bowl first. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul opened the innings for India and though Rohit got out for 15 and then Virat Kohli departed for 19 runs, KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav hammered the Australian bowlers.

Rahul slammed 57 in 33 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes, while Suryakumar made 50 runs in 33 balls with 6 fours and 1 six. Dinesh Karthik provided 20 runs with one four and one six in the end as India finished on 186/7. Kane Richardson was the best bowler for the hosts, taking 4/30.

In reply, Mitchell Marsh and Aaron Finch gave Australians a blinder of a start adding 64 runs 5.4 overs, with Marsh making 35 in 18 balls. But after him, only Glenn Maxwell with 23 and Steve Smith with 11 runs managed to reach double figures, as captain Aaron Finch looked for support.

Finch got out in the death overs for 76 runs in 54 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes to his name. In the end, Mohammad Shami took three wickets out of four to fall in the 20^th over as Australia was bowled out for 180 runs and India won by 6 runs.

After the match, Aaron Finch talked about his team’s performances and his won form as well in the post-match presentation.

He said: “We learned that we need to be clinical towards the back-end, we didn’t capitalize towards the end. We did drag them back after that blistering start from KL, happy with my own form. He’s fantastic (on Kane Richardson), every opportunity he gets for Australia, he’s there performing, that shows the depth of our pace bowling unit. 22nd will be a great day, looking to start off on a winning note, playing against New Zealand and at the SCG will be always special.”

India will next face New Zealand on October 19 in Brisbane in their second warmup fixture.
