Pakistan skipper Babar Azam called cricket a “funny game” while also praising members of his side After beating Bangladesh at the Adelaide Oval.

The right-hander also commented on the pitch, stating that it was difficult to bat on because it was two-paced.

“It’s a team game. Cricket is a funny game. Appreciate my team and the way they played all matches. Pitch wasn’t easy to bat on. Little bit two-paced,” Babar Azam said.

With six points and three victories from five games, Pakistan is now leading Group 2 while India is in second place with six points and three victories from four games.

In Melbourne, India will face Zimbabwe, and both of these groups have advanced to the semifinals.

Bangladesh came in fifth place overall in the points standings. Of their five games, they won two and lost three. They earned four points overall in the competition.

“Haris showed aggression”: Babar Azam

He mentioned his attempt to form a long partnership with Mohammad Rizwan during his discussion of the game, but it did not proceed as he had hoped.

“Me and Rizwan decided to go long, but unfortunately didn’t work out. Haris showed aggression, good to see him play. Looking forward to the semifinals. All of us are excited to play,” said Babar.

Coming to the game, Bangladesh decided to bat first and set up a score of 127/8. With 54 off 48 balls, Najmul Hossain Shanto led all scorers for Bangladesh.

For the Bangla Tigers, Afif Hossain (24*) and Soumya Sarkar (20) also made some commendable efforts. A 52-run partnership between Shanto and Sarkar for the second wicket.

With a 4/22 record, Shaheen Afridi was Pakistan’s top bowler. For their team, Shadab Khan (2/30), Haris Rauf (1/21), and Iftikhar Ahmed (1/15) all bowled well.

Opening batsmen Babar Azam (25) and Mohammad Rizwan (32), who put on a 57-run stand for the first wicket, gave Pakistan a strong start as they attempted to chase down 128.

Despite losing some wickets, Pakistan was still able to reach their target with five wickets remaining and 11 balls remaining thanks to the contributions of Mohammad Haris (31) and Shan Masood (24*).

Shaheen Afridi was adjudged as ‘Man of the Match for his match-winning spell.
